An easy 5* review!
Before diving into ‘This Is Who I Am’ I revisited ‘And Then She Kissed Me’ and I’m so glad I did. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the beautiful setting of Clearwater Bay and introduced me to many of the key side characters in this book, including the Ireland siblings.
This book blew my mind in lots of ways! 🤯 On one hand it was a riveting love story about two beautifully flawed women who each have their own talents, passions, challenges and insecurities. Their instant connection, curiosity and companionship makes for a wonderful read. ♥️
On the other hand, this book also made me feel ignorant at times. Ignorant to the difficulties Ace people face when coming out and also some ignorance to the level of confusion that it can cause those who are romantically pursuing them. I loved that this book faces into the raw emotions, the confusion, and the insecurities that come along with feeling inadequate or less than. This story will do great things to bring awareness to asexuality and the spectrum that sits under such a broad umbrella. 🙌🏼
It was also incredibly refreshing to see menopausal women represented in a much deeper way than simply needing to keep a bottle of lube in the bedside table! 👏🏼 It goes beyond the hot flashes and night sweats (although they are present in all their grim glory!) and gives readers a glimpse of the moods, insecurities and complete loss of control that sometimes accompanies women at this point in their lives.
But more than anything, this book is truly about acceptance. ♥️ Accepting ourselves and our partners for who we truly are. The good, the bad and the sometimes ugly.
To wrap up, this book IS different to Harper’s other books and yet it’s also quintessentially Harper 🤷🏻♀️ - pushing boundaries and raising awareness. 🙌🏼
On a lesser but equally important note, this book seriously needs to come with a hunger trigger warning! I was hungry by chapter 2 and I’m really craving a Black Forest soufflé now… 🤤

I have a soft spot for Harper Bliss – I adore all of her books. The lighter ones are so easy to fall into, I get lost in the pages and devour them in a few hours, and the more intense, character driven books that dig deeply into the human psyche, taking me on a rollercoaster of emotions; the good, the hard, and everything in between and around, but always ending in a satisfying happily ever after.
And then there are her books like This Is Who I Am. Sitting somewhere in the middle of all of that, carrying a weight of realism, but still being filled with the type of love we search for in romance stories.
Cass is a chef and restaurant owner in the small coastal town of Clearwater Bay. (If it sounds familiar – think back to And Then She Kissed Me;) She has a successful career and great friends, but along with middle age, menopause has hit her hard. She deals with it the best way she knows how, but life is up and down, and her emotions are setting her world on fire.
Estelle turns up in Clearwater Bay with the intention of clearing her head and her recently deceased Dad’s house. Meeting Cass and falling for her comes so out of the blue she isn’t sure what to make of it. As an asexual, love has only ever left Estelle with a broken heart, and she is at an age where she thought she was done even trying. Self-doubt and loathing have her reluctant to trust what she feels.
Navigating menopause, middle age, and sexuality, Bliss has crafted another story, sure to leave a mark on her audience. Her mission to prove that middle age is not a dirty word comes across loud and clear, and by ensuring her characters are communication warriors, she softens angst filled pages with understanding and empathy.
Bliss handles the inclusion of an Ace character with tact and respect, and learning about this particular sexual orientation was one of my favourite parts of This Is Who I Am. I adore books that leave me a little wiser than when I started. Don’t miss this one!

Absolute gem!
I just received my hardcover signed edition of In the Distance there is Light and couldn’t be happier. This is my first actual book by Harper , I’m an audiobook junkie. It came much quicker than I expected since it was an international shipment. The book itself was packaged so well and with extra care that I actually felt like I was opening a special gift for myself. The book was in pristine condition wrapped in a kraft paper with a special Harper Bliss sticker holding it in place. Also included in the package ,as a bonus , was a Harper Bliss book mark and pen that I will proudly use to show I’m a Blissverse fan!
The inscription couldn’t have been more perfect. I didn’t know what to ask for and Harper’s choice was spot on and motivating. Absolutely thrilled with my first of many purchases.
Next step to read my new book. Can’t wait.

Beautifully rich!
I’ve fallen head over heels for both Raffo and Dylan!
From chapter one I was hooked on this book. A riveting tale of two women equally vulnerable and flawed, finding hope, heat, comfort and ultimately love in one another.
The book of full of references to our favourite BlissVerse characters and equally is full of brilliant new characters - Connor & Murray for the win!
This was such an easy and heartwarming read and I will return to again and again. Harper Bliss continues to churn out some of the best sapphic books on the market, and I couldn’t be more grateful!
